NASA tests Pipistrel electric drives under electric X-plane development programme

NASA’s interest in electric aeroplanes is no news. However, Pipistrel is proud to announce the researchers at NASA’s Californian Armstrong Flight Research Center have decided to test for this purpose several Pipistrel electric drives, used to power the serial Taurus Electro G2 aeroplane.

Easily clamp workpieces to complete machine table

Clamp workpieces to the entire machine table and save space, if possible without interfering contours for precise and fast machining: not exclusively, but for larger components in particular, clamping solutions which meet these requirements are a step towards even more efficient production.

PA 6 for engine oil pan of six-cylinder boxer engine

The trend of manufacturing engine oil pans from plastic instead of metals such as aluminum is continuing to gain ground. For historical reasons, the plastic of choice to date has almost always been polyamide 6.6. However, newer designs are favoring polyamide 6, an alternative that offers a similarly high-quality property profile, but is much more economical.

CNC-controller for motion applications

The FANUC Power Motion i-A CNC-controller is a perfect solution to control material handling and consecutive material manipulation operations. The controller is capable of controlling several robots on a single or several production lines. It is faster and offers more options than a conventional PLC-based solution, since one control unit can synchronise up to 32 axes.

Artificial skin feels me

Skin is the largest organ of the body. Soon people will be able to feel their environment not only with their own skin, but also with foreign, artificial robotic skin. Fundamental to the human-external environment interface is the process of relaying information from the environment, and stimulation of processes human brains can understand and react to. A group of scientists from the Stanford University was drawn to research by the questions how to feel the objects, enable the users to react to touch, and transmit the collection of electric signals to neurons in real time.

Determining viscosity

In our nursery school for lubrication we have already learned about two different viscosity classification systems (ISO and SAE), as well as the definition of viscosity. This time, we are going to discuss different methods for determining viscosity. Laboratory instruments are usually used to determine dynamic and kinematic viscosity, but there are also simpler portable devices that make it possible to do the measurements near the location where oils are used. In the recent years, we have seen the rise of various viscosity sensors, designed to be installed on the machines for continuous on-line measurements.
