Murrelektronik’s large IO-Link family has grown again
02.12.2024
The demand for IO-Link has exploded in recent years: From 2022 to 2023, the number of installed IO-Link devices increased by an astonishing 89 percent. In total, there were already 51.6 million IO-Link nodes at the end of 2023. Murrelektronik also recognized this trend early on and has launched a complete IO-Link installation system in recent years. At the SPS, the company will be presenting important additions to this system.
The digital transformation of industry is in full swing – and IO-Link is playing an important role in this. It is increasingly being said that IO-Link is the language of digital industry. The primary goal of IO-Link – to make electrical installation faster and easier through global standardization – fits in perfectly with Murrelektronik’s plug & play philosophy.
What's more, IO-Link is ideal for implementing modular machine concepts – a key feature that characterizes all of Murrelektronik's solutions. After all, only something that can be modified or expanded in a modular and flexible way is future-proof.
Standardization is the key to success
Simply plug it in and get started. The system is compatible with devices from multiple manufacturers, has worldwide approvals and can be used in new machines as well as for retrofitting existing systems. These features make Murrelektronik's universal IO-Link installation system the perfect solution for getting started with digitalization.
The term ‘system’ is meant quite literally here: from masters to I/O modules and analogue converters, to power supply and connection technology, Murrelektronik offers a complete, perfectly coordinated IO-Link portfolio – all from a single source.
With IO-Link, the control system can be seamlessly and intelligently networked with the sensor/actuator level and, if required, digitized via a direct cloud connection.
In addition, Murrelektronik offers a range of intelligent devices that can be installed and commissioned in no time at all thanks to the IO-Link interface. In addition to single and double pushbuttons and signal lamps, the range includes the Modlight60 Pro, a signal tower with many interesting features.
With 20 RGB LED discs, 21 adjustable colours and ten different light patterns, this IP 65 dust- and splash-proof signal tower offers flexible options for clear and eye-catching signalling, even in demanding environments, thanks to the optical separation of the individual RGB LED discs. The brightness of the LEDs can be adjusted as required. The Modlight60 Pro also offers different operating modes. This allows users to implement multiple signal types with just one signal tower.
Product portfolio was further expanded
Murrelektronik's IO-Link system is in demand all over the world - and that's why it's growing again: the company now also offers IO-Link I/O modules with NPN switching, which is particularly common in Asian markets.
Also new: The versions of the IO-Link I/O modules with external power supply via M12 L connectors can now be used up to performance level d (passive safety) – and thus also for applications that place high demands on machine safety.
From masters to I/O modules and analogue converters, to power supply and connection technology, Murrelektronik offers a complete, perfectly coordinated IO-Link portfolio – all from a single source. Picture: Murrelektronik GmbH
