Metal Powder Advances Additive Manufacturing for Moldmaking

Hasco America has developed a high-grade metal powder for additive manufacturing (AM), which is applied layer by layer, and then fused to the layers beneath via a laser for the development of a solid part. Hasco notes that AM is useful for the processing of mold inserts with conformal cooling channels. The new powder is identified by its high quality and optimized combination of particle size, roundness and homogeneity.

The powder is available in 1.2709 and 1.4404 material grades, and reportedly enables the production of complex construction geometries for all AM metal processes. It is supplied securely packed in stable, wide-neck drums.
