Industrial manufacturing is changing. High-strength steels, aluminium, lightweight materials, and composites are placing new demands on tools and machining strategies. At the same time, the variety of product variants is growing. Whereas large quantities were often produced using largely standardised processes in the past, manufacturing operations today must accommodate a variety of components, materials, and batch sizes. Added to this are shorter development cycles, globally networked supply chains, and a growing shortage of skilled workers. As a result, complexity is increasing for manufacturing companies.

This is exactly where LMT Tools’ new strategy comes in. The guiding principle “Machining Success. Simplified.” describes how the company intends to align its expertise more consistently with its customers’ manufacturing goals in the future. This begins with selecting the right tool and extends to customer-specific solutions and optimised machining strategies, all the way through to support during production start-up and continuous process optimisation.

According to LMT, customers profit from:

  • simpler machining processes
  • greater process reliability
  • lower costs per component
  • custom-fit tools and machining solutions
  • access to consolidated technical expertise

Three brands pool their expertise

A key component of the new strategy is the three brands: LMT Fette, LMT Kieninger, and LMT Onsrud. They represent different areas of technological expertise and markets and form a complementary portfolio. In the future, these areas of expertise will work together more closely. Specialists from the various centres of expertise and brands will pool their knowledge to tackle specific customer challenges. In this way, LMT Tools combines an international presence with local access to technical know-how.

“For our customers, our new strategy means less effort is required to master complex machining tasks,” summarises Oliver Thomas, Managing Director of the LMT Tools Group. “Specifically, this means: a single point of contact, consolidated expertise, and solutions that are precisely tailored to each application.”
