22.09.2022

In 2022 K in Düsseldorf will once again be one of the most important information and business platforms for the global plastics and rubber industry. The trade fair has comprised the challenges facing the industry in three distinct leading themes.

Every three years, and this coming autumn again, the world of plastics meets in Düsseldorf: from 19 to 26 October 2022, the trade fair K presents new products and innovations from all sectors of the industry — from production to processing, to mechanical engineering. The organisers expect around 3,000 exhibitors from 61 nations and the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre is completely booked.

The exhibitors will present their innovations in different segments of the plastics and rubber industry:

  • Raw materials, auxiliaries
  • Semi-finished products, technical components and reinforced plastic products
  • Machinery and equipment for the plastics and rubber industry.

Exhibitors and visitors from all over the world get together here and use the opportunities their best trade fair offers to demonstrate the operational excellence of this industry, discuss current trends and chart the course for the future.

Suppliers from Europe, especially from Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France will be particularly well represented again this year, but also from the USA. The international character and composition of exhibitors will also guarantee the completeness of the product ranges and a comprehensive overview of the world market. At the same time, K clearly reflects the changes affecting the global market: the number and presentation areas of companies from Asia have remained at a constant high for several years now. Visitors can expect impressive appearances, especially from China, Taiwan, India, South Korea and Japan.

The leading themes of K 2022

The open exchange and dialogue on solutions-oriented innovations and sustainable developments across national borders and continents will be in focus at this year’s K. his is reflected above all by the three major guiding themes Circular Economy, Digitalisation and Climate Protection. These leading themes will be echoed by both the exhibitors’ presentations and in the focus of the official special show “Plastics Shape the Future”, the Science Campus and VDMA’s Circular Economy Forum.

The special show “Plastics Shape the Future — held under the auspices of Plastics Europe Deutschland (PED) — will one again be the central point of contact for the critical exchange of information, thoughts, and opinions. There, the three guiding themes will be discussed by high-level guests from the world of politics, science, the industry as well as NGOs.

“It is undisputed that there is still a lot to catch up on the path towards decarbonisation in our industry, e.g. in terms of raw material supply or recycling. Here, we want to improve — and the K 2022 fair is the right place to come up with fresh ideas and to drive — together with you — many innovative solutions of tomorrow that are allegedly considered to be still unthinkable today,” says K. Ingemar Bühler, Managing Director of PED.

The outdoor premises between Halls 10 and 16 will be the stage of the Circular Economy Forum organised by the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and 13 of its member companies. They will demonstrate the pivotal importance of technology in the implementation of the circular economy in the plastics industry. The high-profile companies are all represented at the Circular Economy Forum in addition to their stands in the exhibition halls.
