Software for surface texture analysis in quality control

14.03.2018

Focal-Spec, a Finnish high-tech company, has teamed up with France-based Digital Surf to launch a new Focal-Spec Map software.

2226.jpgThe Focal-Spec Map software has been designed for the surface measurement and on-line testing in a wide range of industries including consumer and mobile electronics, plastics and medical devices. The companies say it is a cutting-edge software package that will provide a whole new set of tools to users of the Focal-Spec's innovative Line Confocal Imaging (LCI) technology. Users can now visualise, analyse and report on measured surface data in greater depth in quality control.

Focal-Spec specialises in devices for fast surface measurement and on-line testing of challenging materials and shapes, while Digital Surf is a leading provider of Mountains surface analysis software solutions

226.jpgAccording to the companies, Focal-Spec Map has tools that enable the characterisation of surface roughness and texture with its advanced roughness/waviness filtering techniques in 2D and 3D parameters from Ra to ISO 25178. The software also provides surface geometry analysis, including volume of surface structures (bumps, holes), step heights and contours. Reports can be generated quickly and easily and analysis routines can be saved as templates and re-applied to batches. Furthermore, the analysis reports can exported in standard formats for publication (Excel, PDF and Word-compatible RTF) as well. All images can be output at up to 1200 dpi for integration into posters and presentations. Focal-Spec Map also allows for automated statistical analysis of multiple static and dynamic data populations and process capability evaluation.
